A few months back I brought one of these phones from Amazon UK, and I wanted to share the my thoughts on it all..
The phone was just brilliant,,,, like no other phone I had ever seen.., it was fast, the screen was vibrant, the picture quality was truly exceptional with the whopping 20mps camera.. One other thing that really struck me about this device was that battery life.., a phone that would actually last more than a day!..
Two problems with the phone..
The first was that it tended to slip out of the hand very easily..., which was not good on £500 phone..., as you really would not want to be picking up the bill for a repair job.. The simple answer to this was to buy a cover.. To my mind there is only one cover out there for this phone and that is the Nillkin Ultra Slim.., I think it cost me £5 and it fitted beautifully, it just made the phone for me.. A solid cover that sat well in the hand..
My second problem was something of a conundrum.. I loved the big phone, but in hindsight 6" is just a little too big to be something you can easily put in your pocket.. 5.5" will to my mind become the size that most people recognise to the the right size for a phone that has internet access..
I, like many others brought this model of Nokia from Amazon UK... One thing I expect is that when I buy a phone from a UK website is that it comes with the full UK spec and the full UK warranty...
After owning mine for a couple of weeks, I decided it was time to contact Nokia and register the warranty on the phone.. I did this via a live chat... They took my IMEI number and the first question they asked was where did you buy the phone..?
I told them that I had brought it from a dealer on Amazon UK called Xtra Cubby..
They then asked me to confirm the CV details on the box... It said "CV HK"...Unbeknownst to me this means Country Variant..., and it tells you for what region the phone is meant for... So, my phone was for Hong Kong..., is that a problem?.... Well, yes it is...., because whilst you are buying a phone that on the face of it is cheaper, the phone has no warranty with Nokia in the UK!..
We in the UK get two years warranty as standard on Nokia phones whist the rest of the world only gets 1...
When the dealer says that he is giving you 1 years warranty, this means that if you can find him again in the first place, he will have to send your phone all the way back to Hong Kong to get it fixed...!
The moral of the story here, is make sure your phone is a GB phone..., ask the dealer if the phone as "CV GB" on the box...., and ask him if it has two years warranty... You will save yourself a whole load of problems...
Amazon UK instructed the dealer to refund my money in full as they were in breach of the terms and conditions under which they operate..
